Commissioned by the LA Jazz Society, Jonah Levine embarks on a journey of creativity as he writes and composes a jazz suite representing Los Angeles with his collective of diverse musicians. Working together, the Jonah Levine Collective collaborates and rehearses his musical compositions days prior to their final performance at the Moss Theater.

Beautifully layered and expressionistic, AFTER SHERMAN is a story about inheritance and the tension that defines our collective American history, especially Black history. The director’s exploration of coastal South Carolina as a site of African American pride and racial trauma through Gullah cultural retention and land preservation is interrupted by the shootings at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC.

35 years after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a group of young guys are trying to re-interpretate this place of the tragedy through art. The dream of our main character – Igor – is to create a rave in Chernobyl. That would help become the exclusion zone into an accessible platform, and not a heavy Soviet legacy. In the process of creating a rave, the system of black business, corruption and hypocrisy of the authorities is revealed. Igor’s path proves that change is inevitable: a dialogue between old paradigms and ideas of a new generation must happen.

MARIPOSAS DEL CAMPO shares the stories of indigenous Mixtec, Zapotec, and Purépecha teenagers from Mexico striving to change their families’ destinies in the strawberry fields of Oxnard, California. Through a stormy year of sanctioned racism and anti-immigrant policies, the documentary captures their journeys—with help from the characters’ own intimate videos—as they navigate cultural identity, parental expectations, economic challenges, and the justice needs of their migrant farmworker community. For young people whose lives have always been steeped in uncertainty, it takes a leap of faith to chase a dream.

Against all odds and polar advice, a mirthful Muslim chaplain, a shy French biologist, a defiant Qatari princess and eight other women from the Arab World and the West attempt to ski across the melting Arctic sea ice to the North Pole. Director Holly Morris and crew capture the struggle of these audacious explorers, led by veteran polar explorer Felicity Aston, as they navigate everything from frostbite and polar bear threats, to sexism and self-doubt. Ultimately, EXPOSURE is an intimate story of resilience, survival and global citizenry in what may be the last-ever over ice expedition to the North Pole.
